Meet Vasko!
Hey there, I’m Vasko! Hailing from Bulgaria, I have an insatiable love for playing instruments and singing alongside a group of joyful individuals. My journey with Ukulele Cheats began in 2016 as a simple side project, born out of a desire for musical fun. Surprisingly, it’s evolved into something much more enduring.
Beginning of My Musical Journey
The accordion
At the tender age of 5, I could be found darting around the house with a tray in hand, pretending it was an accordion. Thankfully, my parents recognized my passion and enrolled me in accordion lessons. For the next 7 years, I honed my skills until, in a burst of teenage impulsivity, I decided I’d rather chase soccer balls and math equations than musical notes.

Ever since the ’90s, my big sister was always blasting MTV (back when it was actually a music channel.) It later turned out that I subconsciously memorized a lot of chord progressions from the popular songs of the period, but also, at some point the MTV commercial break always began and ended with a guy doing a kickflip, which looked so cool in my head.
Then, at 14, I stumbled into the world of skate culture. I found a sense of freedom. I needed my own board, ASAP. So, I started saving every penny until I could finally buy my very first skateboard. I found half of my favorite songs in skate movies.
I’m riding to this day, maybe not as much as when I was a teenager, but it is still one of my favorite forms of meditation.

Then, one fateful night at 22, fueled by a bit of liquid courage at a party, I stumbled upon a guitar. Suddenly, the allure of music-making flooded back, and in a bold move, I ventured to the local tech store and purchased one of the only two guitars they had in stock. And just like that, the musical flame was reignited.
After learning the first few basic chords, I realized I could play a lot of MTV songs and learn new ones quickly. I guess the accordion background really helped me here. Soon after, I realized that playing and singing songs with my friends brought me joy like no other.

The ukulele
At some point, I was looking at my life trying to figure out the special combo: something I’m good at, which brings me joy, and people find useful.
After many nights of overthinking, it hit me – playing the ukulele and teaching it while being outside fit the bill perfectly! So I knew I would dedicate some years of my life to that oddly placed purpose.
I purchased my first ukulele, and before it even arrived, UkuleleCheats was born. It was Christmas 2015.
My Mission
My mission is simple: to help ukulele players have fun, overcome obstacles along the way, and entertain themselves and others. I believe that everyone has the ability to make beautiful music, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
